Did you know that Pontefract has its very own Town Crier – John Turner.
John is a member of the Ancient & Honourable Guild of Town Criers and can often be found in the town and library engaging with the good folk of the town.
He makes proclamations on Wednesdays at 9:20 about upcoming events and news at the Buttercross and repeats this outside Pontefract Museum at 11:20. He is also available for private hire for individuals, community groups and businesses for a modest fee (those fabulous clothes don’t come cheap you know)
He even has his own Facebook page Town Crier of Pontefract so follow him there.
