Pontefract Civic Society, a registered charity, is pleased to be able to offer the services of our Town Crier for public, corporate and private engagements.
Fees help with the costs of the Town Crier’s livery and membership to the Guild of Town Crier’s
The town crier will work with you before your event to ensure all details are correct.
He will:
- Write the proclamations from material supplied 4 weeks prior to the event by the person making the booking. The information to be read by the town crier will be checked by the civic society for any conflict with our mission or activities and finally agreed 2 weeks prior to the event.
- Make 1 or 2 proclamations at the event at times agreed.
- Make a social media post pre-event on the Town Crier’s Facebook page and if appropriate and agreed, also on Pontefract Civic Society and Pontefract Community Page Facebook sites.
- Make a social media post after the event, using the same pages stated in item 3.
- Supply a copy of the proclamation to you for your use and archives.
Corporate Rate: Non-member of Pontefract Civic Society
To attend your event, make 1 or 2 proclamations as agreed.
£50 for 1st hour plus £25 for each additional hour.
Other rates/discounts for local groups and our own business members.
A 50% discount for local charities or constituted groups within the Pontefract area.
A 25% discount for our Business Members.
First hour free to our Community Group and Junior Civic Society members as above £12.50 after first hour.
Travel expense at 45p a mile after 5 miles. Public transport or taxi, if required, at cost. Receipts will be passed on, if required. No discount on travel fees.
All bookings will subject to the availability of the Town Crier and will be confirmed to you by email.
In the event of a cancellation less than 4 weeks before the event a full fee will be charged at the appropriate rate but may be waived with our discretion. If cancelled by us a full refund will be given.
