The Community Connector Group reach out to the folk of Pontefract to promote and encourage civic pride and a community spirit.
This is does though; engagement with our local schools and New College via the Junior Civic Society, the creation of major town centre events including Wheelfest and Liquorice Shoots for all the family to enjoy, participation in Pontefract local events and the sale of Pontefract based souvenirs and books either at events on via our online shop.
Decoration Squad
Formed in order to decorate the town for the Tour de Yorkshire in 2019 which resulted in Pontefract winning the Best Dressed Town on the Tour de Yorkshire route. Public, school and businesses worked together with the Decoration squad to co-ordinate the displays along the route.
The Decoration squad has continued to celebrate various events including; The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Yorkshire Day, The King’s coronation, VE Day and remembrance day involving schools and businesses to create the displays.
