The Planning & Highways Group review and comment on planning applications and also focuses on our response to conservation, listed building status, environment and disability issues.
The Planning and Highways group has a mandate to consider Pontefract in a holistic way. As well as monitoring and commenting on current planning applications they are also tasked with considering the impact of previous changes to the town structure looking though both the eyes of the locals but also of visitors to the town. These ideas would be used to work with WMDC for future projects and planning.
We would welcome constructive comments from anyone who would like to draw our attention to any aspect of Pontefract as a whole (Parking. access, road network, signage, town centre, public transport as examples) that they consider could be improved for the benefit of locals and visitors alike. Our annual Design Awards and Countess of Rosse “Façade of the Year” celebration of those who have looked to renew, improve, modify or renovate buildings in Pontefract falls within our remit.
