WheelFest 2026 hailed a major success as plans begin for 2027

Pontefract Civic Society has celebrated the success of WheelFest 2026, with organisers already well underway in planning for WheelFest 2027, scheduled for Saturday 12 June 2027

As a local charity, Pontefract Civic Society is dedicated to making Pontefract a better place to live, work and visit—and organisers believe this year’s event delivered exactly that.

WheelFest26 in partnership of KLH Events brought the town to life, drawing strong support from visitors, sponsors, exhibitors and, crucially, the volunteers whose efforts ensured the event ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all.

This year’s event, once again, coincided with 1940s Ropergate, creating a unique atmosphere across the town centre. The combination of classic vehicles, heritage displays and period-themed entertainment gave Pontefract a distinctive and immersive feel for both residents and visitors.

Phil Cook, Vice Chair of Pontefract Civic Society and Event Manager, said:

“When we held our first car show four years ago, we knew there was both space and public appetite for it to grow. Since adding 1940s Ropergate for the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the event has continued to develop into something really special. We believe we are delivering the kind of event the town deserves. This years WheelFest has been our biggest yet, and with additions, such as traction engines and model railways, it has truly become a festival of the wheel.

Planning for WheelFest27 is already underway, and as always, we are keen to work with local community groups and local businesses to bring a fantastic day of entertainment to the town and of course we have various opportunities for sponsorship.”

With momentum continuing to build, the Society is looking ahead to making 2027 even bigger and better, while maintaining its strong community focus.

We would like to thank the sponsors for this years event : BETTA LIFE , Hunters, Michelle’s Flowers Ltd, Cartners No5, Picson Printing and Embroidery, Hannah Davis and Wild Campers.
