We as a civic society and a town, have lost a man who had a passion for life, for his family, for humour, for performance and for everything about Pontefract – RIP Martin Lodge .
Martin was a true friend to so many, and I am pleased to have spent time in his company over recent years. He was a loyal and thorough Vice Chair, with so much potential to elevate the civic movement beyond where it is now. Our paths have crossed on and off over many, many years – although he was three years older than me, I knew of him at high school, and about 10 years further on, my wife Christine worked for him at the DHSS (Enterprise House), then more recently, his work in a number of local organisations and events is where our paths fortunately crossed once more.
Martin was a giant of a man, a true gentleman, and we will miss him dearly. I am sure he will be playing to his biggest audience. Thoughts are with Jill, Andrew & Rachel x
