St Richard’s Dominican Friary in Pontefract was one of 56 Dominican friaries in England by 1300. However, its exact location remained unknown until the demolition of the old A&E department presented the opportunity to locate the missing friary. Simon Tomson, Excavation Field Director for Pontefract and District Archaeological Society presents a talk on the excavations which took place in 2011/2012 and what was discovered.
