SUMMARY:Tour - Ackworth School
DESCRIPTION:An external tour of school buildings/grounds with the school archivist\, with an additional Q&A session and a chance to view items from the archives. \nOriginally a Thomas Coram foundling hospital\, the site was purchased by the Society of Friends in the 1770s for the establishment of a school. The buildings are extensive and impressive. Visitors will have access to the exterior and to the library for the Q&A session.\nThe school was founded in 1779 by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) to educate boys and girls. \nThis free event is part of Heritage Open Day \nPre booking required via link
